What I Offer

General approach to therapy.

What is it like to work with me?

All work begins with identifying what has been working well and where pain and suffering has been happening. I value exploring the history, in so much as it informs with here and now.

I operate with clients, both individuals and couples, as a team. You are the expert in your life, your relationship, your history, and your values. I need you to bring that expertise to the table. I will bring my expertise in how to close the gap between current experience and desired experience. I offer truthful reflections and work best when folks are open and honest about what is and is not working in the therapeutic process.

I believe the work of therapy is often to learn how to be present with discomfort and cultivate a new path forward in the direction of the life one wants that is full, rich, and meaningful. I aim to help you identify and cope with internal obstacles that keep you from having the kind of life you desire. I work with clients along the process of making necessary changes to live more fulfilling lives that are centered on their personal values and strengths.

This approach is infused with evidence-based, process-based, cognitive-behavioral approach that includes mindfulness and acceptance-based treatments, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing. I enjoy bringing the relevant research into the clinical work to anchor the work we are doing.

Specialty training in: chronic pain and other chronic health conditions, trauma, depression and anxiety, mind-body health and wellness, couples, life adjustment stressors, transition, and military populations.

How will we meet?

It depends!

Weekly Couples Therapy: We will meet remotely. Meaning, we will meet using a secure and reliable virtual platform.

My hope is that meeting virtually will eliminate some of the common barriers to working on your relationship or yourself (no additional time needed to get to and from appointments, no need to find parking, ease need for childcare, etc.). Please look at this page for more information on virtual visits.

Marathon Couples Therapy: We can meet either remotely or in-person (office located in Bellingham, WA).

Our Sessions Will be

Personalized

Our initial sessions will be dedicated to assessing the strengths and challenges. We will also discuss relevant history. This intentional exploration will help us in creating a personalized plan to fit your unique needs and goals.

Insurance

Targeted

Like a good coach, we will identify what needs to change to meet your goals and the barriers that are impeding success. At the end of the day, the most important aspect of our work is that it meets your needs. This means that I will match the intervention and approach to the challenges, strengths, and goals for yourself or your relationship.

Compassionate

Working on your relationship or yourself needs to be an experience that is rewarding and reinforcing. Effective work does not mean one partner is the problem or needs to be more like the other person. Rather, it is about identifying the problematic patterns, understanding the function of those pattern, and replacing with something more workable.

Payment is due at the time of service and is billed electronically via credit card or health savings account card.
